The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Chief John Oyegun claims that President Muhammadu Buhari has added 4000 Megawatts of electricity to the national grid under 3 years.
Oyegun who spoke at the grand rally and reception of defectors into the APC in Katsina made the wild claim as he touted the President’s achievement in power and agricultural sector. He said:
“I can confirm to you today that we are almost self-sufficient in rice production. Government is constructing 5,000 kilometres of railroad across the country, and has improved on electricity generation from 3,000 to 7,000 megawatts.
“The Mambila power project is coming on and there are seven other power projects on the way.”
“When we came on board we meet 3000 MWs of electricity, but the president has increased it to 7000 MWs within a shortest period of time. On agriculture, Buhari has made the sector almost self-sufficient for everyone.”
According to Oyegun, the number of decampees, over 300,000 persons as claimed by the party is an indication of the huge approval levels of President Buhari and Governor Aminu Masari among the people. “It is a sign that you also approve of what President Muhammadu Buhari is doing. I am going back to Abuja with the message that the people of this state and country are behind the president,” Oyegun said.
Governor Masari who touted the quality of the decampees from the 34 Local Government areas assured the party of 90% of total votes cast in the upcoming 2019 elections.
“To the National Chairman, the crowd you have seen today is just a tip off iceberg. Katsina is Buhari and Buhari is Katsina. We are working towards realizing that 90 per cent of those who are going to vote in the next general election in the state would vote for President Buhari and the APC.”
